Be of good courage, and let us be courageous for our people,
and for the cities of our God, and may the Lord do what seems good to him.
2 Samuel 10:12
Dear members and friends of Andrew Chapel,
The Courageous Gift….
Courage is not the absence of fear. Courage is not the same as feeling brave and fearless. Courage is acting in spite of fear. Many of us can recall times when we acted even though we were afraid. These times exemplify the essence and meaning of courage – times when we felt fear and still did what needed doing.
In the face of the COVID pandemic, many of us have had to muster a great deal of courage. However, courage is a wonderful gift in that it multiplies – the more often we act courageously, the more often we feel that we can act courageously. When we grow our faith through generosity, we also find that we become more courageous in our giving. We acted with faith and courage when we launched our capital campaign a few years ago and we can be proud of the fruits that campaign produced. Faith and courage go hand in hand, and through our faith and courage, we become the church in our community – the hands and feet of Christ in the world.
Please mark your calendar for Sunday, November 8th – Commitment Sunday. This is our opportunity to express our courageous giving to Andrew Chapel and all its ministries. Attached you will find the prayer card that we have been using during our Shift Plus time and will continue to use throughout this campaign. Please prayerfully consider what God is calling you to give to Andrew Chapel this coming year and fill out the online pledge form by CLICKING HERE on or before our Commitment Sunday on November 8th.
It bears repeating, especially during these extremely difficult times, that Andrew Chapel would not exist without you, and our ministry depends completely on your participation and support. Supporting all that we do requires a lot of prayer, sharing of our gifts and time, and being open to the leading of God’s Holy Spirit. Thank you for your courageous gift – the courageous gift that changes the world.
Yours in Christ,
Alison Combes, Stewardship chair
Lord, help us to listen for your Word and then lead us to what you desire us to do in our community. Guide us to serve with love, faith, and courage. Amen.
