Are you interested in being one of Andrew Chapel’s ushers?
Now that Andrew Chapel is having two services on Sunday—the contemporary early Prayer and Praise service at 8:45 and then the traditional worship service at 11:00 a. m.—there is a request for anyone teenaged on up who would be interested in becoming an usher for the 11 a. m. service. Being an usher involves:
--making sure two offering plates for the congregation and one for the choir are in place
--standing at the entrance to the sanctuary and passing out bulletins to adults and clip boards to children about 25 minutes prior to the beginning of the service
--showing people where seats are available as the sanctuary fills
--attending to the seating of anyone with special needs
--counting the total number of people in the building, including nursery children and attendees after the service has begun and recording that number on the chart on the bulletin board located above the copy machine next to the door in the church office
--taking up the offering each Sunday and ushering communion services on the first Sunday of every month
--staying after the service to pick up attendance forms; placing hymnals back in their holders on the backs of the pews; picking up and recycling bulletins left in the pews; and replenishing any supplies missing from the backs of the pews (like pens, offering envelopes, etc.) and writing a note to Jennifer, the church secretary, if any new supplies need to be ordered
--turning off the lights in the sanctuary after everyone leaves
Your help will be greatly appreciated on any level. We have several members who are already helping on a regular basis, so you would not be needed to usher each and every Sunday, unless you really want to. It’s really a fun way to see members of our church family and to meet new attendees each Sunday. If you’re interested in being an usher, please call Cathey or Fred Frei at: 703-759-6614, or contact us in church and let us know. Thank you!
