Summer Sermon Series

All of us have questions and doubts about our faith, the Bible, how God works, and what the Church teaches. Many in our congregation have submitted some of these questions and doubts, and these will form the basis for our summer sermon series. Each week the sermon will focus one one issue. At the same time, the pastor will lead a discussion of this same issue at 9:00 a.m.

Whether or not you have submitted a question or doubt, you will benefit from this exploration.

WANTED: Volunteers of All Ages

to help with Andrew Chapel’s Vacation Bible School,

August 23-27, 2010!

This year’s theme is Saddle Ridge Ranch - -Roundin’ Up Questions, and Drivin’ Home Answers (James 1:5).

VBS is open to children ages 3 (potty trained) through 3rd grade.  We will have a nursery for younger siblings whose parents are able to help, and lots of fun for slightly older kids too.

This should be a great program for everyone involved – not just the little ones!  If you can help in any way – decorations, teaching, singing, crafts, snacks, games -- please consider doing so!  Many hands make light work.

Questions:  Contact Barbara Hopkins or call the church office.

Tom Sawyer

The King David Choir (and others) presented "Tom Sawyer," the story of a young boy on the verge of becoming a man gets into a series of troubles. He skips school, sneaks out at night, hates to go to church and even runs away for so long the town thinks he’s dead. No matter what he does, his aunt and his church accept him back, love him and try to guide him.

Scouting For Food

Potluck & Movie Night Aug. 15

On August 15, join us for a potluck supper and a screening of the new film "Wesley." “Wesley” depicts the life of Methodism’s founder from his early days at Oxford through his unsuccessful mission to the Georgia colony, and the growth of the Methodist movement back in England. John Wesley is passionate about his faith and struggles mightily with how to live it out. This passion often leads him to doubt himself, make mistakes, and find himself in conflict with others, but it also leads him to make some bold and unorthodox choices to include those who were left out by the church establishment.

Most of us know little of the man who, along with his brother Charles, is credited with beginning a movement which would shape the face of Protestant Christianity for centuries to come. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn more of this remarkable man, as well as our own spiritual tradition.
