HEALTH KITS FOR JUNE!!

The 2013 Virginia Conference kit collection is being conducted to replenish the UMCOR supply. Health kits provide basic necessities to people who have been forced to leave their homes because of human conflict or natural disaster. Health kits are also used as learning tools in personal hygiene, literacy, nutrition and cooking classes. Completed kits or items for the kits can be left in the blue bins under the coat racks in the narthex by June 16th.

You can also donate to help provide kits. Just mark health kits on your check and put in the offering.

For a list of kit items visit: www.vaumc.org/ac2013. There are also lists on the Missions bulletin board for three of the types of health kits to take home.

Life Together

Sundays evenings at 7pm

We are starting a study of Dietrich Bonhoeffer's book Life Together, a discussion of Christian fellowship. Please contact the church office as soon as possible to let us know you will join us, which group you will join and if we should order a book for you. The study will last approximately five weeks.

PRAYER MINISTRY SEEKING MEMBERS

Andrew Chapel has an active intercessory prayer ministry. Members of the "prayer chain" commit to pray daily for prayer concerns for 3 weeks, or as appropriate depending on the situation. Many members of our own church family have expressed how important this ministry has been to them. If you are interested in learning more about this opportunity, please contact Dee Leggett, the new leader of the Prayer Chain, at DeeLeggett@aol.com or at

703-430-8680.

Recycle Used Greeting Cards

We will be collecting used Christmas and other types of cards such as Birthday, Get Well, and Thank you, and sending them to a children's home for them to make new cards. If you would like to donate your cards, please bring them in. Please remove and bring in only the front. There can be no writing on the backside of the card front.

Help bring hope to those in Hurricane Sandy's path. Please donate to UMCOR US Disaster Response, Hurricanes 2012, Advance #3021787. You can also text the word RESPONSE to 80888to give an immediate $10 donation. Visit www.umcor.org for more information about rescue efforts.
