The Best Expression of Love is Your Actions for Others
As the Spring flowers begin to bloom with the promise of new beginnings, take a few quiet moments for yourself to reflect on your life and the choices you make every day. The April tree blossoms are announcing the changes of the season. We see the early gifts of spring explode in a magnificent display of life, sunshine, play and opportunity. As with the first signs of spring, the real magic is what happens next as life kicks into gear.
Andrew Chapel is approaching Spring with a similar attitude as we reach another milestone. To do God’s work in the church, we have divided up all the members into three primary councils: the Adult Council, Youth Council and Children’s Council. The March pot luck dinner kicked off the new Adult and Children Councils’ initial meetings. The councils are primarily responsible to coordinate the fellowship activities, Sunday school education, missions and other programs for that segment of the church. Each Council will sponsor 2 to 3 pot luck dinners each year planning the theme, leading the activities and preparing the set up and clean up for the night. Each Council will be

responsible to plan and direct members in accomplishing meaningful missions and fellowship to do God’s work in our church and community. Each council will be asked to adopt a part of the church (such as a room, window, kitchen, organ, etc.) for improvement or maintenance as we did with the sanctuary, organ, senior high room, and junior high room. Each member has been asked to participate in at least three church missions or activities this year. With you help we can do great things!
The Children and Youth Councils are on their way with programs and missions well in the planning phases for implementation in the spring and summer. The Adult Council has a broader perspective and mandate to be good stewards of the church, support the Missions of the church, nurture our walk with Christ and grow the membership by 25 net members over the next two years. We need the support and active participation of all members to be successful and serve God’s purpose as Andrew Chapel. If you want to know how you can help, talk to John Johnson, Chairman Adult Council; Sue Swedo, Chairwoman Youth Council; Molly Pruett, Chairwoman Children Council or Rev. Morris as there is plenty to do. |
This leads to that important question. In the study of the book of James, we find that Christians are called to serve others and use the gifts and blessings God has given to us? With the promise of Easter fresh in your spirit, take a few moments to reflect on the season. What are you doing with your gifts, your treasures, and your time? Come and get involved at Andrew Chapel and participate in the whole show. It is not too late. We encourage you to match your dollars with ours to make a difference. Then try something new, participate in at least one new service project or try one new event this year. Service to God will make a difference in the lives you touch and more importantly you as well. The soul of our church is reflected by the faith, energy, and gifts of its church family. Thank you for your contribution and support of our church family at Andrew Chapel.
