Greetings! I’m Will Waller, the new intern here at Andrew Chapel. I’ve met some of you and hope to meet all of you in the coming future. I hail from Jasper, GA, a small town in the North Georgia Mountains but graduated college in the great Commonwealth of Virginia, Washington and Lee University, in 2008. Since then, I’ve recently lived in the Central Oregon Cascades, serving a United Methodist camp for over a year. At this time, I’m in my second year at Wesley Theological Seminary in D.C, and it is through our Practice in Ministry & Mission that I come to you, to learn the ins-and-outs of parish ministry.
When I’m not here at Andrew Chapel, I’m often backpacking, skiing, kayaking, sky diving, bridge jumping, water skiing, running with the bulls, etc. If it’s an outdoor sport, I’ve probably done it at least once and probably became enamored with it. In addition, I enjoy reading novels, corresponding through the mail, and having adventures in the kitchen. In the church, my passion for children and youth ministries run deep, and plan to be involved with them here at ACUMC. I’m trying to be more deliberate with my study of the Bible and am relishing my theological courses at WTS.
My call to ministry came early, around thirteen, when I was on a mission trip. Since then, I’ve been something of a wanderer as to its actual meaning for my life, but feel led into parish ministry. Specifically, my heart is in the small church, where it is often disparaged and neglected by the mega-churches and church growth (in numbers) movement.
I’m excited to get started here at ACUMC. I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship.
Will
