It was the first part of April and I was stuck at home like everyone else. I was tired of the routine and wishing I could do something to help. Well, be careful what you wish for. Holly, the dog, and I were finishing our morning walk when I recognized a young woman wearing scrubs getting out of her car. She had just finished her shift as a nurse in the Covid unit at Fairfax hospital. She looked tired.
This was a chance to help, so I called Pastor Matt and he got the ball rolling. The congregation wrote notes of encouragement, we ordered pizza for both shifts of nurses and Martha Bell packed bags of unused Easter egg hunt candy to be delivered with the notes. To me this is an example of God opening a door when it’s been slammed shut!
